Mrs. Krienke completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Master of Science from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. As an undergraduate she was on the Cheerleading squad for Carolina and of course now forever bleeds Carolina Blue!

Get to know Tally a little better in her own words:

What led you to become a midwife?

I got the opportunity to work with an organization called Austin Samaritans on a mission trip to Nicaragua while I was in Nursing School. On this trip, I got the opportunity to witness the wonderful work being done in a clinic, Casa Base de Salud, who served the Managua residents who lived in the city dump of Managua. I was toured around the city dump by a staff physician who was quickly called upon to help with a woman hemorrhaging from a miscarriage in her home made of scrap pieces of metal and cardboard found throughout the dump. Although Managua had an ambulance system they would not service the interior aspects of the dump, and we were forced to carry this woman who was actively bleeding out to a car at the clinic and drive her to the out skirts of the dump to be picked up by an ambulance.

Through this experience, I realized the need for more active women’s health care providers in this community of women. I also recognized my passion for women’s health care and discovered a drive to empower women and the underserved. In time, I see myself doing more mission work in Managua while also serving women in the U.S.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite thing about being a midwife is the opportunity to be a part of such a special time of firsts in a woman and couple’s lives. There is nothing better than showing parents their baby’s heartbeats, helping a mom breastfeed, and educating a woman on her fertility. These are all such natural processes that I am blessed to guide women through.

What inspired you to work at Reply?

It was evident the first time I met with the physicians at Reply that they were completely devoted to a patient-centering model of care. This mission and vision of Reply to be a patient-centered model of care that truly focuses on the individual patients and spends countless hours helping patients understand the natural process of fertility, gynecology and obstetrics is a refreshing change of pace in the medical world. I was blessed with a perfect fit and the greatest coworkers.
